Sedation dentistry
Your sedation options
Nitrous oxide: A light, steady form of sedation that helps ease anxiety and create a calm experience during treatment.
Nitrous oxide — often called “laughing gas” — provides light, steady relaxation during dental treatment. You stay awake and aware, but feel calmer and more at ease. The effects wear off quickly after your appointment, which makes it a simple option for many patients.
It’s especially helpful if you feel nervous about treatment, have a sensitive gag reflex, or prefer a gentler pace in the chair.
What nitrous oxide supports:
- Calm, steady relaxation
- Reduced anxiety during treatment
- A more comfortable experience for sensitive patients
- Quick return to normal activities
What to expect
We begin by reviewing your health history and explaining how the sedation works. During treatment, you’ll breathe a gentle mix of oxygen and nitrous oxide through a small mask. We adjust the level to match your comfort and monitor you throughout the appointment. The effects fade within minutes once the mask is removed.
Some patients feel anxious even before walking through the door. Nitrous oxide softens those feelings without making you feel out of control. It’s adjustable, fast-acting, and creates a smoother experience from start to finish.
